HEALTH RULES FOR HORSES EXHIBITED IN BARN DURING FAIR WEEK
An “Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship” form must be presented upon arrival at all shows and fairs in Pennsylvania, including out of state entries.
1. No equine showing clinical signs of contagious, infectious or parasitic disease will be admitted to any show or other fair event.
2. All horses and other equidae must be official ELISA or AGID (Coggins) test negative within 12 months of the show or fair opening (Official Coggins test by USDA approved laboratory). The negative test report must accompany the horse. The health certificate must accurately identify the animal and must include the Coggins test date and results.
3. CURRENT NEGATIVE COGGINS REQURIED AND PROOF OF RABIES VACCINATION by a veterinarian or a statement is to be signed indicating that horses entered have received rabies vaccine.
4. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within six months prior to the opening date of the exhibition is required. Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) test results & date of the test must be included on CVI.
Horses and other equidae assembled for exhibition, competition, or sale should be immunized to prevent contagious respiratory disease not less than 15 days before the show. Exhibitors are advised to consult their veterinarian regarding proper conditioning and vaccination of their animals at least 30 days prior to the event.
